Eating healthy and exercising not only helps with your weight loss, but it also helps with beautifying you from the inside out. Learn why this combination may be one of the best remedies for beautiful skin, healthy joints, and mental health.

How does one define beauty?

According to the Webster dictionary, beauty is the qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit. Beauty is more than what is on the surface. It speaks to qualities both internal and external.

When it comes to having perfect skin, cosmetic surgery, Botox and makeup come to mind, right?

It’s a yes, for the majority of women nowadays. The best thing for beautiful skin is exercise. Exercise has an overall revitalizing effect. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, exercise can improve circulation, provides antioxidant protection, and promotes blood flow, which protects the skin and delays the aging process. Think of sweat as being a mini facial, lol. The AAD also mentions that replacing fat with muscle can help your skin appear smoother and firmer. This means goodbye cellulite!

Sleep is another way to have better-looking skin. Exercise can help you sleep faster and improve your quality of sleep, which in turn helps your skin’s health. Our skin refreshes during deep sleep, so instead of reaching for sleep aid, schedule that exercise time!

Exercise goes beyond beautifying our skin. It helps keep your joints healthy and mental health strong.

How can exercise do all of that?

Well, it relieves stress and releases endorphins that leave you feeling happier and more relaxed. Endorphins are a type of chemical messenger that is released when you experience stress to reduce the negative effect and increase pleasure throughout the body. This also improves your sense of control, coping ability, and self-esteem.

Your joints are connected by ligaments and muscles for stability. Your joints pretty much run everything in your body and keep it healthy. This is a big compliment of inner beauty. Weight plays a big part in the strain on your joints. Every pound that is lost removes up to

5 lbs of pressure from your joints. This takes a combination of things to keep them healthy:

* Cross-training, which is doing different activities each time you exercise

* Flexibility exercises such as yoga and Pilates

* Stretching before lifting

* Warming up for 5 to 10 minutes prior to stretching

* Cutting back on alcohol and sugar while incorporating more foods rich in omega 3s and vitamin A

* Exercising at least 30 minutes each day

So, if you want to look beautiful from the inside out, grab your workout gear and go work up a sweat!
